Nutritional advice, especially when geared towards people diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, is generally easier said than done. One obstacle that must be considered is poor eating habits. Type 2 diabetics looking to treat and manage their blood sugar levels will have to overcome these ingrained habits, and introduce some much-needed changes.

Weight loss is beneficial for the majority of Type 2 diabetics and that goes without saying for many other diseases. To be concise, know there is no harm in occasionally having an empty stomach. Our bodies are remarkably adaptable, so you're not going to be depriving yourself if you happen to skip a dinner or maybe lunch one day. What will happen is quite the contrary. Your body will use this time to utilize its fat stores, preferentially for energy to fuel its processes.

If you're constantly eating, and not allowing yourself to have an empty stomach intermittently throughout your day, you're not giving your body the chance to burn fat directly. This is the reason why unhealthy snacking almost always leads to weight gain, as the energy surplus will directly translate to fat.

Furthermore, you may just be thirsty. At least 50% of the time you feel you have an empty stomach is just your body mistaking thirst for hunger.

Next time you have an empty stomach, drink a glass of water, and avoid eating just a bit longer. Give your body the opportunity to burn some fat directly. And when you finally do eat, make sure it's a quality meal.
